Drive Migration Guide

Migrating files to GSuite from anything other than Google Drive:

This process is pretty simple. Just install the Google Drive for desktop software and move files from your old service to your new one, using File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac).

Migrating files to GSuite from Google Drive:

Unfortunately, the worst service to migrate from is Google's own Google Drive. This is because Google Documents are not downloadable. To get around this:

  1. Go to your Google Drive in your web browser.
  2. Select all your files.
  3. Right-click, and "Download".
This will download your files, including the Google Documents, by first converting them to Microsoft Office Documents.
  4. Install Google Drive for desktop and upload the files to your GSuite drive.

Note: This won't transfer Google Forms correctly, since there is no file type they can download as. See below instructions for Forms.

Migrating Google Forms to GSuite from Google Drive:

Unfortunately (again), Google Forms are not easily moved to GSuite. Below is the easiest way to move them:

  1. If you have multiple, it's easiest to move them all to the same folder.
  2. Share the individual form or folder the forms are in, to your username@younglife.org account.
  3. Go to your GSuite account, and open the share
  4. Right click each Form, and click "Make a Copy". This will copy them into your My Drive.
  5. Once you've copied all your Forms, you can move them where you want them in My Drive.
  6. Stop sharing the Forms/Folder from your old Google account.
